What to expect
Here at ‘The Edward Hayden School of Cookery’ we pride ourselves on offering a very fun, informative and educational experience in a very relaxed manner. Mountain views, river walks, water sports, Duiske Abbey, historical landmarks, long established crafts, and indeed ‘The Edward Hayden School of Cookery’ all help to make Graiguenamanagh the hidden gem that it is. The school is based at the back of Edward’s home on Mill Road in the beautiful town of Graiguenamanagh in Ireland’s south east, in view of the much adored Brandon hill.
We enjoy visits from many customers both locally and nationally and here’s a few items to note before you visit.
- The school will be open approximately 15 minutes before the commencement of the class. Please aim to arrive no earlier than this as the school may not be open.
- All classes are demonstration style classes, and will be delivered by chef/patron Edward Hayden, unless otherwise specified.
- Minimum numbers of 12 people must be achieved for the class to proceed.
- For the evening classes the cookery school closes at 11pm sharp.
- Customers are invited to bring their own beverages as required. A limited amount of parking is available on the school grounds. Additional parking can be found on the nearby and adjacent road.
- As the day classes are run over a longer time period we cover a greater amount of recipes
- Recipe sheets will be provided for all guests and a full meal is served at the end of each class.
- A substantial meal/tasting experience is included in each class.
Kind words from kind people
A charismatic, personality, warm welcome and in an in-depth knowledge of culinary arts and cuisine mixed with smiles, laughter and delicious food all in a relaxed and intimate setting.
An all in one recipe for a fabulous evening that also offers fantastic value. Many thanks Edward for entertaining us with your professional unique style. We certainly will be back time and time again.
Caroline Foley Kearns,
A day at The Edward Hayden School of Cookery in Graignamanagh is like spending time with a favourite friend who has a killer wit and cooks and feeds us lavishly.
An ‘Edward Day’ is a mix of true Irish hospitality, food, entertainment and learning from a great chef.
An ‘Edward Day’ is not just for Irish people who want to experience how great Irish food is cooked. It should be on the itinerary for overseas visitors who want to learn how to cook Irish food while they experience Irish hospitality at its best. We can’t wait for our next ‘Edward Day’
Orna and Eilish Stokes ,
Our family has had many memorable and enjoyable nights in Edward Hayden’s. The food is delicious and we always receive a warm and friendly welcome from Edward and his staff. There is a wide and varied menu to suit everyone, even those of us with special dietary requirements.
There’s a large number of us that travel to Graignamanagh for our Christmas get to gather every year & each year we have add ons as our friends hear us ladies on the pitch sideline laughing about our night out - they then want to join us the following year but we could only bring them along if we had a drop out ... (not too often) Edward knows all our names each year & he’s even remembered Lisa getting the Christmas baubles off the tree & wearing them as earrings. He explains every recipe in finer detail and of course the favourite part is sitting in his dining room & he serving us up the meal he cooked - that’s the first time we are quiet!! With Edel taking the bookings & the ladies on the night he has a great team working alongside him. We’ve been with Edward 5 years in a row & we always look forward to our next night ...

A five star experience
A night at Edwards is therapy in its best form. From the moment you enter the kitchen, you are consumed by fun, laughter and of course learning. Edwards style is very common sense cooking but with that special twist. Edward is a fantastic host and his generosity of spirit is infectious. And if that’s not enough, after the learning comes the dining! Such delicious food, cooked before your eyes but impeccably presented. A five star experience and can highly recommend it as a night out with friends, family or as a team building work night out.
